I got really inspired by a YouTuber who wanted to make girls games based on the ones you used to see on girls go games, like Avata Star Sue, @ diby_doodle on Instagram. So l wanted to make my own rendition of what a line of girly games would look like, but of course with a magical girl twist. In the future I'll draw fake screenshots of each of the games, as not only will it be fun, but it'll also be good background practice for me!

It would be called:

StarPlanet

A collection of girl games based around the MC Star Hoshino.

Star Hoshino:

A bright and sometimes brash middle schooler. She possesses a magic makeup compact called the PlanetPact that allows her to transform into a magical heroine. She has 3 different forms she can turn into, Chef Star, Idol Star, and Magical Star, each with their own different abilities. She usually uses her compact for good deeds or to solve a problem, although things rarely if ever go how she originally planned it. But in the end, she always finds a way to save the day!

I’m definitely gonna draw more with this character, so let me know what you think!

hi i clicked on a link you put on a post about the modern internet kinda sucking now and came to your blog and im ngl the mouse leaving a glitter trail captivated me for a good 3 minutes. i was just sat there playing with it and it was so fuckin cool man. also the death of flash was the death of good browser games and there still hasnt been a good flash alternative :sob:

I get this comment a lot lmao. Glad you enjoy my desktop blog! I've been thinking about revamping it lately...

Anyway, in regards to the death of flash, I would encourage you to check out flashpoint archive if you haven't already. It's a restoration project that includes many games from my childhood, like Papa's Pizzeria and Avata Star Sue, among other things--I've heard it also archives minigames from Barbie.com's heyday and other stuff like that. You can download it for free. I've done it myself, and it works very well. There are also some browser extensions that allow for flash revitalization, although none are perfect. All have their flaws for sure. But, if you're really nostalgic, I'm happy to tell you that not everything is fully lost.

I'm sort of curious but like, did you guys encounter and regularly use children oriented sites like girlgogames or play Avata star sue and the like?

I've been into looking up old nostalgia games from when I was in elementary and recently got hit with the revelation that having kid centric stuff online might have been why my parents felt safe leaving me alone online. I also wanna know if current minors are still interested in that stuff. Not games, sites. It can be sites that host games but not games like roblox or whatever

Say hi to Team Angel! These are the first designs I've come up with, and therefore subject to change! I'm really looking forward to writing this, I've had this concept in my head since I saw the Kotaku promo.

Any advice or perhaps ideas you would like to share is absolutely welcome!

Info:

Team Angel, in this form, is based on a 1998 pitch for a localized sailor moon. This pitch was about four angelic maidens who are tasked with protecting earth from their queen Angela's evil sister Melvina, who lives on the dark side of the moon with her incompetent shape-shiftong henchmen Flotsam and Jetsam. The girls live on the planet Zera, and have limited time to solve humanity's problems.

But what about this reworking?

I'll be changing a lot (which basically equates in this case to things I'd already written feeling to be more intriguing than what I learned the plot was going to be).

For one, they'll be stationed on earth. It'll be a Secret Jouju type of deal where they transform when necessary, but have limited time in that form (depending on the assignment). They go to a human school to learn how life on earth works, and how to therefore deal with the problems of those they were brought to help. At the end of the day they go to a teleporter(?) located on the facade of an abandoned building. This brings them back to their home planet Zera to report back to Queen Angela. If they don't get there in time, their powers will get weaker. Along the way, Melvina will be possibly restored. Her henchmen will not. All of Team Angel is around 15-16 years old, although this is subject to some change.

Although the original was both live action and American, I'm taking stylistic inspiration from 2000s girly flash mascots like Avata Star Sue for my reworking, because it's just cute.

Characters

Rosalyn:

The no-nonsense de facto leader of Team Angel. She specializes in things like martial arts and dance. She does both to calm herself down. She's relatively angsty, and views her role as a Team Angel member as a knightship of sorts. She tends to go directly to brute force when dealing with people that make her mad.

Delphine:

A fun-loving party animal. She has a sharp wit, and doesn't like doing things she doesn't have to. She likes to cut class and wander earth, preferring to learn about it through experience (which is code for reckless decisions). She gets on Rosalyn's nerves.

Lyla:

The smart and fashionable bookworm. She's absolutely enamored with her lessons at her school, and longs to have more time there. She's not very good at talking to people, and speaks rather formally. She isn't good at making friends, and is thankful to have been teamed up with people, as it makes that much easier. She wants to be as outgoing as Delphine, but for her it's not that easy. She likes dressing up.

Celeste:

A shy girl who loves animals. She's a bit ditzy, and always daydreaming. She often "adopts" random animals. She has a pet snake named Regina that she pampers. She loves writing poetry and playing music, which often gets her made fun of by Delphine.

Persephone:

A Zeritian creature who guards the girls. On earth she disguises herself as Celeste's support animal. She is good at calming down any arguments between the girls, and has a human form. She was turned into the creature she is now by Melvina.

Fun fact: a lot of these personality traits were there before I had seen the treatment for the series, which makes me so happy!! Minus Persephone. I didn't even know that she even existed lol.

Y'know, i kinda have to write the final chapter of my story mundane believers but i've also had the ideas for these OCs in my head for a while now and i can't focus on anything other than them so i just decided to draw designs for them so that i can get 'em out of my head. (EXPLANATIONS OF THESE CHARACTERS + SOME OTHER STUFF UNDER THE CUT)

The frankenstein girl is named "alive" (any pronouns, she doesn't care about gender). She's mixed between 5 different races and doesn't talk much, she's also vewy scawwy but is also very misunderstood. I haven't really developed her much yet lol (also her color palette was, of course, inspired by old black and white horror movies as well as frankie stein from monster high, specifically how they appear in the "reel drama" collector's line)

The girl in overalls is named carrie, she's quite literally a carrot that decided to be human one day and she's desperately trying to fit in with the other humans. Also i imagine she doesn't really now what a name is and didn't actually have one until someone asked and she just said whatever sounded like a human name (kinda like that one headcanon people have about shrek) oh yeah and she has a pet bunny named rabby who's constantly trying to eat her but she doesn't realize it....btw carrie is also an intersex demigirl

Lastly, the girl with blue hair is named makeighlyn. She is a parody of those really weird flash games aimed at girls and i got the idea for her when i watched the youtuber li speaks' video about avata star sue. Basically the gist of what makeighlyn is about is she's basically an exorcist/demon slayer who's generally really sweet most of the time but is pretty much doomguy levels of sadistic when it comes to her job, she ABSOLUTELY HATES demons and wants nothing more than to see them suffer! Oh yeah and also she's pretty fucking two-faced and i consider her theme song to be scary world by night club

Some other inspirations for makeighlyn are mikan tsumiki from danganronpa, the 3 mascots of GirlsGoGames, the artist SleepyCore's OC mew, the artist jo_sipu's OC balvenie and the youtuber caitlyn reilly's "the girl who bullied you in high school" skits (this one's more obvious considering makeighlyn was named after the title character's daughter)

Oh yeah and quick warning: jo_sipu is a GORE artist and quite a few of her animations deal with stuff such as toxic relationships and drug use so if you want to check her out, please do so with caution ⚠️

Darlingdollz

From Barbie to American girls dolls, to Strawberry shortcake and Monster high, Darlingdollz does videos about anything and everything doll related. They also have a very soft and calm voice which is perfect when you need something calm, fun and interesting to listen to!

Sarah Z

Sherlock Holmes, Dashcon!, the Onceler, supernatural, buffy and… Homestuck. What do these all have in common? Sarah Z made super through and interesting videos on them! The videos on Homstuck and the panopticon of West Elm Caleb, are must watches! From theater, to social media, to tv shows and movies, Sarah has great videos on all of them. Also shoutout to her co-writer Emily! She’s awesome too!

Li speaks

(not 100% sure if she’s LGBT+ but she’s great anyways.) She does amazing deep dives on old nostalgic ’girls games and media’ highly recommend her vid on Avata Star Sue! Just like with Darlingdollz, I find her to have a soft and calm voice so she’s also a good recommendation for when you need something calm, fun and interesting to listen to!

A newer commentary YouTuber that has really good videos on all kinds of trending social media stuff. Ranges from absolutely hilarious videos to really funny yet also serious vids, but laughter is guaranteed. If you want to laugh your ass off, Nasty tiktok chefs is 👨‍🍳 👌 For a more serious video, I highly recommend the toxic boy moms of tiktok!
